Wedding photography by a studio photographer

Wedding photography by a studio photographer

Weddings are busy, emotional and stressful days, and it is not surprising that amidst all the fuss, the wedding photos sometimes fall short of the mark. That’s why many married couples opt to have a second session in state-of-the-art photographic studios.

Such an experience offers the opportunity to try something a little different to the staged traditional shots associated with wedding photographs.

et=”_blank” href=”http://www.thisisventure.co.uk/” target=”_blank” title=”Professional Photography”>Venture does not do traditional wedding photography; it offers bespoke photography sessions through a nationwide network of professional photography studios.

Away from the stress-inducing big-day, Venture offers a relaxed, comfortable and professional atmosphere to celebrate this important event.

Brides can get their dress back on and the grooms can climb back in their suit to capture some totally different – and perfect – wedding memories.

After their honeymoon in some faraway destination, couples come back relaxed, tanned and ready to start their new life together. This is when many people decide to let a photography professional tell the real story of their relationship.

A Venture photo experience allows the portrait photographer to get to the very root of a couple and find out what makes them tick, to create a unique portrait.

During the hour in the photo studio, couples can try out all manner of weird and wonderful things.

Afterwards, Venture’s digital artists can work their magic on the portraits, playing around with colours, backgrounds and styles to fashion a contemporary work of art.

The images are then unveiled in an exclusive viewing where the happy couple pick out their favourites from the photo experience. Once this has been done, they can choose exclusive frames and displays that can suit all tastes and styles.

As a photographer, I own the copyrights of any pictures taken. I work at will with a company who pays me commission based on their sales of the pictures. That would mean that at any time, I can walk out with the pictures and they are not able to sell them. That is the way my contract is written….May not be the way another photographer's contract is written.

Here is the loophole for you…NO photographer is allowed to use your pictures unless you signed a release/consent form. I cannot even have the pictures in my portfolio unless the person/s signed the release/consent form. Not to mention, give them out to anyone other than the person/persons in them. Is there anyone else in the picture other than the girl that the picture was given to?

I would say that you have grounds….but I am not sure what you would get out of it. Contact the photographer and let her know that you do not want the photos distributed to anyone other than the person who paid for them and work from there.

    Good Luck!

I'd reccommend asking the studio for references. Of course, realize they will only give names of people who they're pretty certain were pleased. Also check the better business bureau to see if anyone has filed any complaints against them.

Of course. A professional photographer is professional and should be able to handle this request. They might even be willing to do the shoot on location at the church you will be using. You'll have to work out those specifics with the photographer.

What I do is ask the bride and groom if they want to do some of the formal shots early. If they have no problem seeing each other before the ceremony, then we can get those out of the way, and it makes my and their lives less stressful. I'm not rushing around, they are not as frantic, the guests are not waiting a long time at the reception.

I would charge the same price as a two person portrait session. Again, you'll have to ask the photographer you go with what they propose.

Don't work for a studio. You do NOT need a special degree in photography. It takes a lot of preparation and practice. You have to be ready for the moment. You can't be fumbling around with settings because you will miss the shot. Most churches do not allow flash. Are you comfortable with that? Are you comfortable in low light conditions in a reception hall.
I started on my own. I did my friends mock wedding photos. They were already married, but they got dressed up again and we did outside shots. Build a portfolio. Brides want perfect pictures and will not hire you if you do not have work.
Advertise everywhere. There are bridal shows, salons, craiglist (BE CAREFUL), your local newspaper. Just keep building your portfolio, come up with packages, ect. Good luck!

Nice work, you did pretty good.

Put an ad on Craig's List looking for a student photographer who wishes to increase their wedding experience. Offer a small amount of money (say $100) and require that you IMMEDIATELY recieve all negatives. In exchange, they may use the photos for their portfolio and you will provide a reference.

You should get several people to respond, all with training and good equipment. Ask to meet with them in a public place to review photos they've done.

This way, you won't have to burden any of your guests with the title of wedding photographer (though they can still take some shots). You will save money and not have to negotiate negative rights (which few pros will give you).

If it doesn't work out, you can always get dolled up on your one year anniversary.
